What’s New for 2015

Exciting times at The Abbey!

This year is off to amazing start, and it has been wonderful to meet new students.

We are meeting on Friday nights, and people are excited.  We’re gathering for Bible study, worship music, and prayer, and everyone is invited.  It would be a delight to meet you and/or have you join in!

Send us a message for more details!

The Miracle of a Church Plant

Every church starts with men and women who are committed to a miracle: that wild belief that God can transform not only one life, but an entire community.

Churches are built with adventurous people who attempt the impossible, venturing into new land to spread the good news that Jesus saves.

Churches are built by passionate people who believe that God never ceases in His pursuit of humanity, but continually expands His Kingdom.

Churches are built by loving people who look beyond their own interests for the sake of reaching the lost, desperate, and dying.

Churches are built by courageous people, who face the darkness with confidence, knowing that the light of Christ will be victorious.

Churches are built by the “crazy ones” who believe that God can take a measly few and multiply by thousands for the sake of His glory.

If that sounds intriguing and you would like to see God do the impossible, let us know. We are praying for a team of men and women who want to (1) reach the nations in western Chicagoland and (2) experience the miracle of planting a new church. God can do anything, and He uses people like you and me, so we can see how truly awesome He is.

Exciting News!

Exciting news!

As a church plant, we are entering a new season together. Not only will there be further opportunities to grow in the Lord and fellowship together, but our prayer is to reach out to international and incoming students at Northern Illinois University.

In this effort, God has led us to meet in a home. We think this particular approach will be effective in a college context because (1) most students don’t have a home-like refuge on campus, and (2) many international students are more familiar with a house church model. We thought that a name should reflect this new approach and feel to the ministry.

After discussing with students, ministry leaders, and local pastors, we’ve made the decision to update the ministry name to The Abbey. We’ll be meeting at 550 Northern Lane, and when God provides the growth out of His incredible love, we will expand to another night and/or another house location. For now, we will meet together as a body and experience the community, authenticity, and spiritual vitality that is unique to the house church model.May God be glorified as we remain faithful to His call.
